In more detail, the General Business Cycle Index during the month of December 2022, compared to the corresponding index of December 2021, showed an increase of 8.8% and compared to the corresponding index of November 2022, an increase of 6.7%. Especially for food stores, the annual increase recorded was of the order of 7.7%, while the monthly change reached +15.4%. As regards, in particular, large food stores, the increase was of the order of 7.2% on an annual basis and 12.1% on a monthly basis.
The Volume Index in food stores decreased by 4.6%
In addition, the General Volume Index (turnover at constant prices), during December 2022, compared to the corresponding index of December 2021, showed a decrease of 1.2% and compared to the corresponding index of November 2022, an increase of 7 ,1%. In particular, the Volume Index in food stores decreased by 4.6% compared to December 2021, while it showed a monthly change of +15.5%. Focusing on large food stores, the Index showed an annual change of -6.6% and a monthly change of +12.1%. It is worth mentioning that the Volume Index of the Food - Beverage - Tobacco category in December 2022, compared to the corresponding index of December 2021, showed a slight decrease of -2.2%, while the monthly change of the Index showed an increase by 36.4%.
As regards the seasonally adjusted General Index of Business Cycle during December 2022, compared to the corresponding index of November 2022, it showed a decrease of 1.3%, while the seasonally adjusted General Index of Volume, during the month of December 2022, compared to the corresponding index of November 2022, showed a decrease of 1%.
In particular, for the category of food stores, the monthly change in the Turnover Index showed a slight decrease of 0.3%, while the Volume Index showed a monthly change of -1.2%.
